power plant and protest

Nuclear Power plant is the most repeated word in news these days as Japan is having a meltdown but now in the focus for nuclear power is not Japan but another Asian country India. As the government of the 4th economically ranked country has expressed their intention of nuclear plant in Jaitapur, India. Although the government is facing some protest as the farmer started it, but after the incident in Japan now it grabbed the attention of whole country as many scientists, academics and activists have also joined in they said “The Japanese nuclear crisis is a wake-up call for India”. Although the location of the tree and the high cliff might save the plant from tsunami but that city faced 95 earthquakes in last 26 years. This concerns many people including the environmental minister as he spoke against it. But on the government said it’s a part of a larger picture. They want to provide electricity for quarter of the country through nuclear power by 2050; it could help the development of the country as well as their economic growth. So which side you are on?

  1. I think this problem will definitely open India's eyes. We need to develop the nuclear power, but supervise it really well. Otherwise, they would be dependent to oil and other irreplaceable material.
